Following the recent announcements from NAB and Westpac, St.George/BankSA will be reducing a broad range of account exception fees to $9, effective 1 October 2009.
The fee reductions will apply across consumer and business deposit accounts, residential loans, credit cards and personal loans.

For Home Loans, the following fees will be changing:

Portfolio Loans (including Business Umbrella Investment Loan)

Direct debit dishonour fee $45 $9

Starting 23 August 2009, St.George will be promoting the “Get 1.1 Steps ahead by choosing a St.George Advantage Package” as part of the annual Spring Home Loan campaign which will be available for a limited time only.

Borrowers can get ahead with St.George Advantage Package, which includes:

A discount of 1.13% Off the Standard Variable Rate for 12 months by applying for a Discount Variable rate loan as part of the Advantage Package (rolling onto the standard Advantage Package interest rate discount after 12 months).
$500 Switch Fee is being waived during the campaign period, so customers can move to an ongoing Advantage Package interest rate discount at no additional cost.
The offer is for a limited time only, and customers who take up the Discount Variable Rate product outside the campaign period will not have the $500 automatic switch fee waived at the end of the discounted interest rate period.

The key benefits of the St.George Advantage Package offer include:

1.13% p.a. off the Standard Variable Rate for the first 12 months by applying for a Discount Variable rate home loan
Advantage Package interest rate discount after 12 months with no differentiated switch fee – a saving of $500, which equates to a significant additional saving in the first year of:
